Research Interests
The progress of modern society is closely related to the advancements in material design, as those materials provide excellent utility for society across many sectors, from healthcare to energy. In light of the historical value of plastic (affordability, convenience, and versatility), it is now encouraged to align with climate change mitigation and circular economy strategies (less raw materials/ waste/ emission) responding to global awareness and environmental demands. Therefore, sustainable, comprehensive, and well-coordinated systemic changes are crucial for all industries to align with climate mitigation and circularity. Solar energy is one of the promising renewable energies that can promote synthetic chemistry and offers us many opportunities to fulfill circularity goals, i.e., sustainable design and production. In this regard, heterogeneous/ homogeneous photocatalysts appear as a powerful catalysis tool for synthetic chemistry, especially for polymer synthesis, due to the mild reaction conditions, recyclability of photocatalysts, and its high catalytic activity in visible and NIR regions. Our current research focuses on the utilization of heterogeneous photocatalysts in polymer-forming reactions and the development of photochemical pathways for non-isocyanate chemistry in polymer science.
