My research focuses on the synthesis of metal complexes and their application in producing biodegradable polymers. While most studies emphasize oxygen-based polymers such as polyesters and polycarbonates, my curiosity led me to explore sulfur analogues. Sulfur imparts unique properties to polymers, including enhanced degradability, improved thermal and optical performance, metal sequestration, high refractive indices, and self-healing ability. Currently, I am investigating sulfur-containing compounds through ring-opening copolymerization, with future plans to directly utilize elemental sulfur—an abundant industrial byproduct—as a sustainable feedstock for polymerization.
